Laser Hair Removal

Throughout our lifetimes, our skin is exposed to many forces - sun, gravity, hormonal and weight changes, and our own bad habits to name just a few. There are multiple ways to prevent these changes, as well as, rejuvenate the skin on both face and body. In addition to skin care products, facials and chemical peels, Bliss offers medical aesthetic procedures to address a variety of issues.

IPL Photofacial, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a rejuvenating, non-ablative skin treatment that is ideal for the treatment of redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, melasma  and hyper- pigmentation. This light based technology seeks out pigment penetrating below the skin's surface to treat issues at the source. Superficial pigment problems, like solar lentigenes near the surface can be treated as well.  Patients may experience swelling, redness and/or “peppering” in which spots may temporarily appear darker. Over 5 -14 days, the dark spots will flake off. Following treatment, patients may resume normal activities.  For optimal results, patients will likely require multiple treatments to each area.

Microneedling is a frontline treatment for acne, acne scars, texture, fine lines, laxity, photodamaged skin, as well as, for stretch marks. Using an automated microneedling device, thousands of microchannels are created in the skin. This provides mechanical stimulation of the dermis which triggers the body’s wound healing response involving growth factors, collagen type I and glycosaminoglycan (GAG). As the skin heals, additional growth factors released by the body regulate the way in which it heals by supporting normalized collagen organization (scarless healing) and increased blood flow. This is called Collagen Induction Therapy, or CIT. Over time, skin becomes smoother, softer and suppler. PRP is commonly used in conjunction with microneedling. It is applied during and after treatment. The small microchannels created during microneedling allow penetration of the PRP below the surface and direct delivery of the healing growth factors to the newly damaged tissues. Though it sounds painful, microneedling is very well tolerated. A topical anesthetic is applied prior to treatment. Immediately following treatment, patients may experience redness, swelling and a mild sunburn/windburn sensation on the treated area, lasting approximately 24-48 hours. Patients may experience skin flaking and dry areas but this quickly passes and healthy, glowing skin is revealed. Results may vary depending on current state of skin, lifestyle i.e. smoking and sun exposure, among other factors.

Pixel is a fractional laser skin resurfacing treatment that can treat multiple skin concerns; including sun damage, fine lines and large pores. It can also improve the appearance of acne scarring and stretch marks. Pixel treatments help reverse the signs of aging by creating controlled micro- injuries in the dermis, stimulating the production of collagen thus creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. PRP is often used in conjunction with Pixel treatments. The micro- injuries allow penetration of the PRP below the surface and direct delivery of the healing growth factors to the damaged tissues. Downtime after Pixel varies but is usually around 5-7days. Patients can expect to experience swelling and redness post treatment for approximately 48 hours, followed by peeling for several days.   Patients will need to apply an occlusive ointment, such as Aquafor, for the first 48 hours, followed by a heavy moisturizer for the remainder of the first week.
Multiple treatments may be recommended for optimal results.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED), or impotence, is sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis during sexual activity. ED affects nearly 20 million males in the United States alone. Multiple factors affect a man’s ability to have and maintain an erection and can be physical, emotional or hormonal. In most cases, ED is caused by decreased blood flow to the penis, which is attributable to multiple conditions. By utilizing PRP and its powerful growth factors, patients can experience increased function and improved sensitivity of the penis. Treatments begin with a local anesthetic cream that is applied to specific injection sites. Depending on patient preference, an injectable anesthetic may be used as well.  Next, PRP is injected in precise locations. The growth factors in the PRP work to stimulate increased blood flow and tissue repair. The procedure is complete in less than 15 minutes and requires no downtime. Patients typically experience some improvement within a week, and continued improvement over three weeks.

It is important to remember that many health and lifestyle factors affect sexual function. Healthy eating, exercise and management of chronic health problems like diabetes and hypertension will be addressed by Dr. Collins during your consultation.

Dermaplaning is a safe and effective procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). Because dermaplaning is a quick procedure with few to no adverse side effects, it has quickly gained popularity among cosmetic medical providers across the country. Using a scalpel and a delicate touch, the provider simply abrades the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes. This is a great treatment to offer to patients who are pregnant or nursing and want a deep exfoliation but are concerned about the  use of peeling agents on their skin because of the risk that the chemicals will be absorbed into the blood stream and may be transferred to the fetus or the child. It is also a first choice for patients who have excess vellus hair on the skin. This hair often causes a buildup of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair gives the patient healthier looking skin. Dermaplaning is safe on all skin types. We recommend treatments every 3-6 weeks depending on hair growth.
